Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, in English this translates to Palace of Arts, this is an opera house and performing arts center that is situated of the City of Arts and Sciences in the dried-up River Turia in Valencia. The City of Arts and Sciences comprises of the buildings such as the L’Hemisferic,  L’Umbracle, El Museu de les Ciencies Principe Felipe  and L’Oceanografic. The L’Hemisferic is an entertainment center; this is a planetarium with an IMAX cinema, the L’Umbracle is a garden whereas the El Museu de les Ciences Principe Felipe is a science museum and the L’Oceanografic is an aquarium and a marine park. This designed by the world renowned Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava. He had garnered awards from his amazing state of the art and modern designs and works such as the award of the Gold Medal of the Institute of Structural Engineers, the Gold Medal of the Institute of Structural Engineers and so on.

The Palace of Arts was made with the world class equipments; this center is designed to held performances such as for opera, zarzuela, ballet, contemporary dance, musicals, theatre and many more. The center has four halls that can cater for musical, theatrical and opera productions. It is in a 40,000 square meters area and it rises at 70 meters high. The Palace of Arts has an 1800-seat capacity and can cater 4,000 people if all the four halls are occupied at the same time. This was opened in October 2005, the construction for this site started in July 1996. This is like the opera house that you will find in London, Sydney and Milan. The cultural site has a similarity with the Sydney Opera House when it is illuminated at night. With world class site, this has put Valencia on the map of not just of its beaches, history, nightlife, food and so on but also for its world class performing arts that is being held in the center and its facilities and equipments.
